The Mitsubishi VR-4 is powered by a 2.5 L V6 twin turbo.  It is available in either a 5-speed manual, or 5-speed Tiptronic semi-automatic transmission, with some models fitted with Active Yaw Control (AYC).  The VR-4 comes as either as a Galant sedan or as a Legnum station wagon.

This car is capable of over 240 km per hour when derestricted, and can accelerate from 0-96 km in about six seconds.  The tiptronic option (also known as INVEC-II), offers the driver either a fully automatic mode, or a clutchless semi-automatic mode if the driver wished to control the up- and down-shift points.  It also offers the same Adaptive Shift Control software which monitors and "learns" the driver's habits over time and adjusts the smoothness or aggression of the gearshifts to suit their style.
The optional Active Yaw Control is a performance-oriented system which aims to increase cornering speeds.  It is a complex rear diff - first seen on the Lancer Evo IV.  The AYC uses active differential to transfer torque to the wheels that have the best grip on the road.  It does this through an array of sensors and is electronically controlled – unlike traditional mechanical limited slip diffs.  This gives the VR-4 outstanding agility not usually expected of similar sized vehicles.

The Tiptronic transmission can operate just as the common type of automatic transmission, but it also allows the driver to override the automatic mode by moving the shift lever into a second (Tiptronic) shift gate equipped with two spring-loaded positions: "upshift" and "downshift".  Once in this mode, the driver takes over most of the shifting decisions ordinarily performed by the transmission's computer.
